ABOUT CRAL

CRAL is an organization dedicated to stopping unreasonable gun control in the state of Rhode Island.  As defined by us, an unreasonable gun control law is a law that:

  • hinders the rights of law-abiding citizens
  • does not restrict criminal access to firearms
  • does not restrict criminal activities
We intend to influence the Rhode Island General Assembly with extensive member-driven mail campaigns and educate the public and the media through the use of "Letters to the Editor" in newspapers throughout the state and call-ins and appearances on radio and television talk shows.

CRAL is NOT a fundraising organization.  CRAL trustees are all volunteers, with no reenumeration and no expense accounts.  We are a citizens ACTION group. That means it is our members that will influence the General Assembly and very importantly, the public as well.  Our organization will notify members of upcoming bills in the legislature that affect our rights and ask our members to inform the General Assembly members of our position with a loud, united voice.

Furthermore, CRAL will produce an ongoing mail campaign to the legislature quoting the facts about gun control and its negative effects.  If our voices are strong enough, and we remain committed, we will be able to overcome the misguided efforts of the liberal gun grabbers and make significant, constructive changes in our state laws.

The difference between CRAL and other pro-firearm groups is that CRAL is the only citizens action group dedicated exclusively to protecting your firearm rights in Rhode Island.

The NRA and Gun Owners of America are primarily focused on National issues in Washington.  They are doing a  fantastic job and we support them wholeheartedly, however, they are not able to concentrate on each individual law in every state in the country.  That needs to be handled by local groups.  The R.I. Rifle and Revolver Association is doing a great job in our General Assembly.  Their main objectives are to lobby for or against specific bills, but they can not do everything.

CRAL is a support team for RI Rifle and Revolver Association, the NRA and GOA but with a different focus.  Our main direction is not to lobby the General Assembly, but to educate the public, media and Legislature regarding the positive merits of firearms and to dispel their myths.  People need to know that the gun grabbers are lying when they state that 12 kids a day die from firearms.  The public needs to be aware that law-abiding citizens use firearms to stop approx. 6850 crimes a day.

We are steadily gaining members with the help of local sporting goods retailers and gun clubs throughout the state.  Each are generously distributing our informational flyers to their clients/members.  To be effective in the General Assembly, we NEED to be heard in LARGE numbers.  Please join us, and urge your friends, fellow shooters and concerned citizens sick of big government, to stand up and be heard.

Help us restore and preserve YOUR constitutional rights.
